In the world that says achieve attain do more noticing the small things can help us refocus. It sounds counterintuitive because society and culture tell us to look at the big picture. But that big picture can become overwhelming and paralyzing when we break it down and noticed the smaller things and delight in the simple every day blessings something inside us can blossom. Embracing the small can be as valuable as embracing the big.
Practice noticing the simple simplicity of the small things that can bring you joy.
- The sound of hummingbird wings~Leaves swirling in the wind
- Butterflies fluttering by
- Sun rays coming through the curtains first thing in the morning
- The first smell of hot coffee or tea in the morning
- Snuggling in the softness of a blanket when you first wake up
- Watching fish swim in a fish tank listening to a new meditation
- Twinkle lights in a lantern
Exercise:
Now grab a journal and right now, run through all of your senses and jot down all of the little things that you are aware of with all 5 of your senses.
Taking a moment to just stop and breathe as you consciously notice the small things not only centers and grounds to you, but brings you to the here and now. Since right now is all we have, isn’t that FAB Living?
