7 Tools Resilient People Practice
When life knocks us around a bit, particularly if we feel like we’re getting pummeled from all directions, it can be tempting to give up and stop pursuing our goals and dreams. Learning to be resilient, though, to pick ourselves up and keep moving forward, is one antidote to stress that can make all of the difference.
7 Steps to Being Resilient
-Remember you are not alone and reach out for support.
-Engage in activities that nurture you.
-Remember that “this too shall pass”. Change is the one constant even with tough times.
-Know that you are stronger than you might feel during difficult moments. Refer back to tough times and remember that you got through them.
-Keep in mind that you are loved.
-Make a list of your gifts and talents—and refer to it often. Ask others for a list of your positives and see how much you are loved.
-Re-focus your thoughts from pain, frustration or disappointment onto positivity and gratitude and then just take the next indicated step.
Resilience allows us to learn and grow and gives us an opportunity to view life from a different perspective than perhaps what we learned growing up or from society. While it may seem easier at times to give up and allow the roller coasters of life to derail our dreams, remembering past wins, tools and skills and applying them is also part of resilience. Studies show that resilience is what leads us to live happier and more wholehearted lives!
