- Patience! That is one thing that it for sure has taught me! Just waiting for pages to load when the whole household is at home on the same internet bandwidth-LOL! The whole waiting in line to get into a store or a restaurant, or waiting in my car for my MD appointment. In our fast paced world, Covid forced me to take a much needed timeout and slow down and reevaluate my life and how I was living it. That patience needs to extend to myself. I am a work in progress and on a journey and I need patience for myself since I’m a type “A” personality and I want it yesterday and to get it all done now.
2. My need to connect! I need to connect with other like-minded women like I NEED to breathe, sleep, and eat. I started out like everyone else with the zoom thing and connecting for meetings online and doing my job online and having “zoom happy hours”. AQs my “zoom ass” grew wider, I realized that I needed to actually see people face to face. Safely, of course, but in person never-the-less. What was born for me and where my heart is leading me is to lead small, connective women’s retreats where we can all just “BE” and breathe, learn, grow and support one another.
3. My need for down time and *alone time! I never really realized that I had uninterrupted time with just me and my own brain before Covid and **lockdown happened. Before the world changed and I couldn’t just hop on a plane for vacation, go camping (in California) or go to a women’s retreat. This is why I am going to incorporate quiet and alone time into the retreat as one of the exercises. Don’t get me wrong, I am going to lead retreats because I NEED the retreat as much as you do and I am facilitating AND participating.
I need to be able to just “be” , just like you and stop do, do, doing (which my therapist said was a lot of DOO-DOO!) and he was right!!!
*Note for people single parenting or living alone: Alone time can also be described as not having responsibility time, like when you are on vacation or you actually go on a walk without the dog! It is something that I believe needs to be a part of our lives to rejuvenate and reset us to be able to move forward with a clear head
**Even if you are in a place that didn’t experience severe lock-down like in California, travel and freedoms were curtailed. Holidays might have looked different and having the luxury of retreating to just “be” instead of do, do, do, was changed as we as a world had to pivot and listen in a whole new way of living.
However, the need to connect face to face as humans is biologically wired and in my belief a NEED in order to maintain sanity, health and wellness, so from Covid I learned that I am being called to facilitate connection in person for not only myself and others.
